For a brief period of time, Calgary Mustangs forward Dylan Sibbald was the property of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. But before Sibbald could leave town, he was flipped to the other Calgary AJHL franchise, the Canucks, and the MOB acquired a defenceman: Sam House.

Top Councillor Don Scott was the first person to announce their plans to run for MLA in the Fort McMurray-Conklin riding with the PC party, saying he hopes to provide the region with a strong voice at the legislative table if he gets the nod.
